Social Discovery

Updated by Michael Davis

 Overview

The Social Discovery page enables you to automatically gather contacts from LinkedIn by monitoring specific company pages and individual profiles. By creating LinkedIn Rules, you can continuously scrape and import connections, followers, and employees from targeted LinkedIn accounts directly into your Contacts database.

 How Social Discovery Works

Social Discovery uses LinkedIn URLs to identify and collect contact information from two types of sources:

- Company Rules: Monitor company LinkedIn pages and showcase pages to gather employees and followers

- Evangelist Rules: Track individual LinkedIn profiles to collect their connections and professional network

Discovered contacts are automatically added to your Contacts page where you can view their activity and engagement history.

 Creating LinkedIn Rules

 Adding a Company Rule

1. Navigate to Contact Management > Social Discovery

2. Under "Company Rules", click "Add Rule"

3. Enter the company LinkedIn URL (e.g., https://www.linkedin.com/company/signalsai)

4. Select Scrape Frequency:

- Daily

- Weekly

- Monthly

5. Click "Add Rule"

 Adding an Evangelist Rule

1. Under "Evangelist Rules", click "Add Rule"

2. Enter the individual's LinkedIn profile URL (e.g., https://www.linkedin.com/in/username)

3. Select Scrape Frequency (Daily, Weekly, or Monthly)

4. Click "Add Rule"

 Rule Types Explained

Company Rules are designed for discovering contacts from organizations. Use these when you want to find employees, followers, or people associated with a specific company or brand. Company pages and showcase pages are both supported.

Evangelist Rules are for discovering contacts from individual profiles. Use these when you want to track connections and networks of key influencers, partners, or evangelists in your industry.

 Table Columns

LINKEDIN URL: The LinkedIn page or profile URL being monitored

SCRAPE FREQUENCY: How often the system checks for new contacts (Daily, Weekly, or Monthly)

LAST SYNCED: Timestamp of the most recent scrape

ACTIONS: Edit or delete individual rules

 Managing Rules

Each rule can be edited to change the scrape frequency or deleted entirely. Click "Edit Rule" to modify settings or "Delete Rule" to remove monitoring. Click on any LinkedIn URL to view the discovered contacts from that specific source.

 Best Practices

- Use Weekly frequency as a balanced option for most use cases

- Company rules work for both main company pages and showcase pages

- Evangelist rules are ideal for tracking brand advocates and industry influencers

- Discovered contacts appear automatically in your main Contacts list
