Bot activation troubleshooting
Why isn't my chatbot firing?
If you're asking yourself this question, you're in the right place. Below, we cover the most common reasons for chatbot activation failure.
PlayRunner Enabled
All chatbot audience parameters (when, where, and for whom a chatbot fires) are managed in PlayRunner. For more information about managing bots within PlayRunner, see Launching a Bot in PlayRunner.
NOTE: Remember to enable PlayRunner once you're ready to launch!
Script is Installed
Often, a bot isn't firing because the script was never installed on that page. We recommend installing the script in the global header or footer of the website so that PlayRunner can manage the inclusion/exclusion of chatbots on specific pages, and you don't have to reinstall the script each time you want to expand to a new page.
For more information about installing our script on your website, see Installation.
To verify whether our script script is present on your site, see Installation Troubleshooting.
Visitor Chat Option
Our system provides you an option to disallow any bots to appear on your site. To enable this option, simply deselect the “Visitor Chat” option in the Installation section of the Org Settings page:
To navigate to your installation page go to:
- Login to your account
- At the bottom-left, select the “Settings” cog
- At the top-left of the page, select the “Installation” subsection of the “Org Settings” section
Approved Domains
Another common reason why a bot will not fire once set up in PlayRunner is that a domain is missing or input incorrectly.
To navigate to your domain approval list,
- Login
- Navigate to Settings > Chat Settings > Chat Settings > Domains
- Click on the card that says "ChatFunnels website domain approval list" and it will expand
Verify the following
- Your domain is on the list
- "https://" is excluded
- "www." is included if applicable
Be sure to SAVE SETTINGS in the top right corner after making any changes to this list
