Clearbit

Overview

With Signals’ integration, you can use Clearbit’s marketing data engine to convert what would be anonymous publicly available information (like IP address) into information that will help you better understand your web visitors, their needs, and how your product can best suit them.  This can assist you and your web visitors to have more targeted, productive, and meaningful conversations on your site about your product!

Setting Up the Integration

Setting up the integration is extremely easy.  All of you need to do is follow these simple steps:

  1. Access your Clearbit account
  2. Toward the bottom-left portion of the screen, select the API tab
  3. Copy the API key at the top of the screen

Note: Keep your Clearbit API key secure – do not share it with other individuals or allow it to be publicly accessed.  Your Clearbit API key is essentially a password for software coding purposes – so with access to your Clearbit API key, someone could access your account.

  1. With your Clearbit API key copied, now access your Signals account.
  2. Go to your settings > Org Settings > Integrations
  3. Toward the bottom of the page, select the icon for the Clearbit integration

  1. Paste your Clearbit API key into the API key section of the integration page
  2. Select the “Save” icon
  3. At the top of the page, click on the Integration On/Off switch so that it is toggled on

Note: Signals automatically saves your integration’s settings when you turn the integration on or off.

And that’s it!  After enabling the integration, when a contact’s information comes in, Signals will communicate with Clearbit on the backend to automatically populate as many Signals contact fields as possible with the information available in Clearbit and Signals.
